Delta Police recover arms, rifles, shotguns

Published by

The police in Ekpan, Uwvie local government area of Delta state, has successfully recovered a cache of arms, including a G-3 rifle, SMG rifle, four English pump-action guns, and two locally fabricated pistols.

This significant recovery came after the police issued an advisory following a stakeholders’ meeting with residents, urging those in possession of firearms to surrender their weapons.

Briefing newsmen in Asaba on Tuesday about some of the recent notable achievements of the command, the state police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed that some residents in Ekpan heeded the advice and voluntarily dropped their arms at a conspicuous location in the community, where they were subsequently recovered.

In another incident, the police successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux that belonged to the Ondo State Government. The vehicle was found in the Patani axis of the East-West expressway in Delta state after it was removed from where it was parked in Owo town, Ondo state.

DSP Bright Edafe explained that a technical intelligence-led investigation was carried out by the police team, which led them to trace the stolen vehicle to Patani. The DPO Patani was alerted, and a police patrol team stationed on the Patani expressway successfully flagged down the vehicle around 2030 hours on the same day.

The recovered vehicle, with registration number OD 231 A10, led to the arrest of two suspects named Tochukwu Nnamani, 22 years old, from Rivers state, and Chukwuma Unue, 38 years old, also from Rivers state.

The suspects claimed that the vehicle was handed to them by an individual named Efe in Ughelli, with instructions to deliver it to one Chief Ojukwu at Mbaima town in Rivers State.
