The Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts to hunt down the killers of two women found dead on their farms in the Udu Local Government Area, despite being unable to apprehend the perpetrators.
The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, stated on Monday that efforts were being vigorously made to arrest those responsible.
Fear has gripped the Ujevwu and Obubu communities in Udu LGA following the discovery of the two women’s lifeless bodies on their farms.
They were allegedly killed for ritual purposes, as locals claimed that some of their vital organs were missing.

According to reports, a 75-year-old woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Onitcha from Ujevwu Community, went missing on Saturday, March 1, 2025, after visiting her farm.
A search party, organised by the community and led by the President-General, Mr. Abel Onomwakpokpo, discovered her lifeless body the next day with some body parts removed.
In a shocking twist, another elderly woman from the neighboring Obubu Community was found dead on her farm on Monday, March 3, 2025, with similar injuries and body parts missing.
Tribune Online reports that there was initial suspicion that the deaths might be connected to the longstanding land dispute between Ujevwu and Obubu communities. However, the manner in which the women were killed suggested otherwise.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Udu Council, Hon. Vincent Oyibode, visited the scenes of the killings and later convened an emergency meeting with both communities.
Oyibode warned women in the area to avoid going to their farms until further notice.
Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the killing of the Ujevwu community woman, stating that she had a deep cut on her back.
However, he added that the case of ritual killing could not be established.
