Delta Police arrests three vandals for allegedly stealing three trucks

Published by

Three suspected vandals who were escaping with three trucks loaded with properties stolen from the Delta Steel Company (DSC) have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police.

The arrest and seizure were effected on Friday sequel to a tip-off from concerned members of the Ovwian Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The intercepted three trucks loaded with property were allegedly vandalised and stolen from the premises of DSC now being managed by the Premium Mines & Steel Ltd in Ovwian/Aladja Community.

The three suspected vandals whose names were not disclosed were drivers of the three trucks intercepted by the police.

It was gathered that members of the community, after apprehending the trucks and the drivers, swiftly informed the operatives of Operation Safe Delta, who effected the arrest of the drivers and confiscation of the three trucks.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, said, “we got information that some suspected trucks were moving out of Aladja area with items suspected to have been vandalised from the moribund DSC.

“So, as a result, I quickly got in touch with the Commander of Safe Delta to consequently move along with his men and intercepted the three trucks.

“The three trucks are now at Ovwian/Aladja Division for safekeeping while the three drivers were apprehended.”

The President-General of Ovwian community, Mr Matthew Uparan, confirmed the report.

Amid accusation that the new operators, the Premium Mines & Steel Ltd, might have a hand in the movement of the property, the company’s public affairs manager, Mr Emma Etaghene, told journalists that he was yet to get details of the infraction.
