The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi, has vowed to continue his plans to prosecute those suspected of defrauding the state government.
This comes in response to an online publication suggesting that the state government lied about attempts by some individuals to defraud the state.
Hon. Weyinmi emphasized that no amount of blackmail would dissuade the state government from seeking justice in the matter.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to holding accountable those involved in any fraudulent activities related to state affairs.
The Commissioner’s statement comes amid allegations from a Nigerian Police Source mentioned in the publication, which questioned the accuracy of the Commissioner’s claims regarding the incident.

“The Delta State Police Command cannot credibly claim ignorance of the existence of such cases within their jurisdiction. Should they do so, it would be most regrettable”, a statement signed by the Commissioner said.
The statement said since the incident was first reported, Hon Weyinmi had visited the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) State Office in Asaba, the Divisional Police Headquarters in GRA Asaba, and the Office of the Officer in Charge (OC) Legal at the Delta State Police Command
“My visits aimed to thoroughly present all relevant facts and evidence, as required by law, to enable the Nigeria Police to conduct their investigations efficiently.
“I must emphasize once more, and with absolute clarity, that no amount of falsehoods or defamation will dissuade us or the Nigerian police from pursuing these matters to their logical and legal conclusions. This is necessary, at the very least, to act as a deterrent to others”, the statement added.
