A total of nine bills have been passed into law and 66 resolutions adoption by the Delta State house of assembly in the past one year.

The bills include Delta State Fiscal Responsibility (Amendment) Law, 2020; Delta State Public Procurement Law, 2020; Delta State Revised Appropriation Law, 2020; and Delta State Internal Revenue Service Law, 2020.

They were all passed within the last three months of COVID-19 pandemic.

Disclosing this as part of activities marking the first year anniversary of the seventh assembly in Asaba, Speaker of the House, Sheriff Oborevwori, gave the assurance that the House will continue to promote sustainable development of all parts of the state.

According to him, the house was stepping into the second session with a lot of zeal, hope and confidence, adding that it was the desire of members to continue to improve on their performances going forward.

Despite coronavirus scourge, the speaker said, the House devised a means to sit at plenary to consider and pass the bills even as he commended the cordial working relations of the house with the executive arm.

“The house has been open to constructive engagements with the executive in a bid to move the state forward,” he stated, adding that members have also actively engaged in constituency visits and town hall meetings.
