A 32-year-old delivery man, Chikaodi Eloji, who allegedly absconded with a customer’s goods worth N475,000 was on Monday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ben Ekundayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 20 at Balogun Market, Lagos Island.
He alleged that the defendant conspired with one other at large to steal 30 pieces of Brazilian Weaves (hair extensions) valued at N475,000 on transit.

The prosecutor said that the goods belonged to Mr Ebuka Morah, who hired the defendant to deliver the goods to his customer in Imo State.
“The defendant, a delivery man, ran off with 30 pieces of Brazilian hair extensions he was supposed to deliver to a customer in Imo State.
“Eloji was later caught through the help of the man that referred him to the complainant,’’ Ekundayo alleged.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 stipulates three years imprisonment for theft, while Section 411 prescribes two years imprisonment for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. M. Olumide-Fusika granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 7 for mention.
