During a visit to the Headquarters of the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina State, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar urged the Nigerian Air Force to strengthen their operations to dominate the airspace and help address the escalating insecurity in the country.

In a statement from his media aide, Mati Ali, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing military capabilities, stating, “We are deploying additional platforms, including attack helicopters and drones, to enhance your capabilities and eliminate bandits and terrorists.”

He reassured the troops of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support, highlighting that the president is pleased with their progress and will continue to provide necessary equipment and welfare support.

On the urgency to tackle insecurity, Abubakar insisted, “End it now, please. End insecurity now.” He acknowledged the renewed determination of the troops at the Forward Operating Bases in Zurmi and Gurbi Baure, commending them for their efforts to eradicate insecurity in the region.

The minister also recognized the cooperation of Zamfara and Katsina states with the federal government in combating insecurity, noting recent strategic meetings held with the governors of these states and the National Security Adviser.

He expressed confidence that, with public support and the new command structure, insecurity in the Northwest would soon be addressed effectively.
