The founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi has said beyond the new governor’s office, public office holders should dedicate their lives to God in the course of their service in office.
Kumuyi said further that such spiritual exercise will help them in making good decisions and also serve the people better; noting that without God no individual or group can succeed in any task.
The General Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church accompanied by his wife gave the charge while dedicating the new governor’s office inside the Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa.
He reiterated that it was good to build a house and dedicate it, but that it was most important for occupants of the house to also dedicate themselves to God, while he lauded Governor Seriake Dickson for making God the centre of his government.
The clergyman stressed that with such profound love for God there shall be showers of blessings in the state and offered special prayers for the peace and progress of Bayelsa, as well as the wisdom of God on the governor, his deputy governor, political appointees and the entire state.
In his remark, Dickson averred that the previous structure was in a state of disrepair and 20 years after, no governor thought of re-building the edifice; he thanked God for initiating and subsequently completing the new governor’s office.
Dickson also thanked Bayelsans and members of his cabinet for their support and encouragement, maintaining that it takes only God to give the wisdom to erect such a structure.
Also, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite appreciated the governor for the vision, explaining that the magnificent edifice will serve successive governors.
To this end, Obuebite submitted that the new office was another landmark achievement of the governor with many more to come within the life span of the present administration.
In another development, he informed that government had received the sum of N14.5 billion in respect of excess deduction from the state allocation by the Federal Government for the repayment of Paris and London club debt.
He noted that it became necessary to show accountability and to dispel rumours, half truths and outright falsehood that are usually dished out to confuse and incite unsuspecting Bayelsans.
He pointed that the governor, in line with his commitment to the people of the state and in accordance with the agreement reached over the receipt of this refund, has directed accordingly that 50 per cent of the money received be used to pay pensions and full salaries for the month of October and November 2016.
“We must deny these groups the undue publicity they crave,” the minister said.
