What started as a fellowship centre has turned into a notable religious centre, impacting lives positively as an arm of the Ebenezer Obey Evangelistic Ministries. This was why the leadership and the entire members celebrated the silver jubilee of the mission in a grand style.
The anniversary, which coincided with the church’s convention, set the city of Lagos agog with its one-week activities at the church headquarters. The ministrations of notable clerics including, Bishop David Oyedepo, Reverend Isaac Omolehin, Apostle Wole Oladiyun, Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi, Pastor Tunde Kajogbola, Bishop Jide Orire Pastor Joseph Adelakun, popularly known as Ayewa respectively gave fillip to the occasion.
One of the highpoints of the convention, a music concert tagged: Praise Altar, turned a carnival-like event with the performance from popular gospel artistes, Bola Are, Tope Alabi, Esther Igbekele, Bukola Bekes, Yinka Ayorinde, Dare Justified, among others.
The grand finale of the event will linger in the memories of the dignitaries and the followings, especially with the glamour that was added to the event as virtually everyone flaunted in the branded attire of the anniversary, just as Ayewa also dazzled with his evergreen songs at the event.
According to Obey, who is also a music icon, the success of the ministry is as a result of the grace of God.
“I cannot explain in details how God has brought us. It has been the grace of God from unset, even at the middle and where we are today. My life, music and the mission God lay in my has been only successful through the grace of God and supports from people.”
He revealed that despite the fact that he neglected the calling for 11 years, because he felt he was already famous through music, God still ensured that His will came to pass to receive salvation and be deep-tooted in the vineyard.
“It was a tough time for me; because I was already a celebrity known all over the world, spanning over 30 years before the Lord called me. I begged God to leave me with the music since I already had fame and almost everything I desire in life. I delayed accepting the call of God for 11 years. I did this because I was already into a help ministry, where I helped lots of missionaries in those days, especially when they had visa problems. Many missionaries have gained entry the country through me to propagate gospel because of the respect the government of Nigeria accorded me. I have also helped some missionaries that came to sell Bible and other gospel materials, to lift bane on their money by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“So, I felt satisfied doing all that as a platform in the body of Christ, but unknown to me that God wanted more than that from me and I eventually succumbed. The only person that supported me was my late wife, Evangelist Juliana Olaide Obey-Fabiyi and God used the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, who also confirmed the calling and the rest is history. I thank everyone that has, one way or the other, assisted in the growth of the ministry. I pray that God will reward you all in multiple folds,” he added.
In her sermon at the thanksgiving service, Reverend Mother Ajayi, noted that it is high time the Christendom irrespective of doctrines embraced love and unity as one, as it will give room for growth and also put an end to the may problems facing the body.
In his remarks, Bishop Folarin Obey-Fabiyi, on behalf of the church authority and the entire members of the church appreciated the kind gesture of Reverend Mother Ajayi for donating generating set and sound equipment worth N41 million to the church.
The congregation also used the event to appreciate the wife of music legend, Evangelist Juliana Obey-Fabiyi, especially on her support and immense contribution towards the growth of the church and her sincere service to the work of God.
