Ladoja
The former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has stated that the declaration of emergency rule has brought relative peace to Rivers State.
Speaking in a sideline interview with newsmen shortly after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer at his Bodija residence on Sunday, Ladoja argued that President Bola Tinubu acted appropriately by declaring an emergency rule to restore normalcy.
He contended that there would not have been a need for the declaration of emergency rule if there were no crisis in the state.
According to him, the emergency rule declared by the President in Rivers State is a welcome development if it will restore peace to the state.
He urged Governor Siminialayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike to come together and resolve their differences if their true intention is to serve the state.
“Some of them have approached the court. Even the PDP governors have gone to the Supreme Court. The judgement will be faster, so whatever the court says will bind both parties,” he remarked.
Tribune Online recalls that President Tinubu, a few weeks ago, declared emergency rule in Rivers State following reported security threats in the state.
There was a sharp division between the executive and legislative arms of government.
After failed attempts to resolve the lingering crisis, President Tinubu was compelled to invoke the constitution and declare emergency rule.
