Dear middle-aged, eat these

It is common to hear expressions like life begins at 40 or sweet 16 at 50, should this affect one’s eating habit too and why?

Yes, it affects eating lifestyle but not only eating lifestyle, every other lifestyle. That phrase to me means the consciousness of one’s life at 40 vis-a-vis eating, dressing and generally being careful with the way you live your life and how you go about it.

From your experience as a chef, what major dos on food choices should be followed by middle-aged adults, what recipe will you suggest to them?

The major food choices to be followed by people of this age are low fats/cholesterol meal that is they should try and avoid much of fried things, milk that has fat, egg yolk and so on. A lot of fish, calcium, iron (we see that in unripe plantain and walnut); a lot of vegetables and so on. They should have much protein like fish. Catfish has a lot of protein, white meat and food that has a lot of calcium because at that age their bones tend to start getting weak, food that contains iron like unripe plantain can be used to make porridge.

What should they avoid eating?

Less of fried things, if possible this should be avoided totally; less of red meat and if eaten at all should be well cooked. They should totally avoid cholesterol dishes and they should reduce their intake of sugary things.

What service challenge do you face when your guests are largely this age range especially in food preparation?

Well, I won’t really say it’s a challenge. We just make sure our recipe is what fits them and it still tastes nice that even the younger ones around won’t be disappointed

Why did you become a chef?

I became a chef because I’ve always had a passion for cooking. It has been my greatest hobby so being a chef is just like me having fun with what I love doing best.
