Iyan as it is culturally christened is the staple meal of a typical Ekiti man. And many visitors to Ekiti are always eager to have a taste of this meal of the people who have been credited of having the best brains or pool of intelligentsia in Nigeria.
Most of these people who are majorly classical visitors to Ekiti State always hibernate in hotels in Ado–Ekiti, but some of them complain of getting conducive ambience of a hotel where pounded yam, in the real form is vended.
Any hotel worthy of the name and desirous of doing business should definitely parade a beautiful and attractive attention seeking design, well apportioned rooms packaged with television, fridge, mirror, good bathroom, generators, boreholes for regular supply of water, security system for the protection of customers and good, spacious parking space, cool ambience sell a good bar and restaurant as well as nice looking staff who can smile and smile the customers in spending more days or come back for a repeat experience.
These are necessary facilities which any hotel should have and one that cannot parade these is not worth the customers’ money.
The hospitality sector particularly the hotel sub- sector in Ado–Ekiti has been invaded with tourism business minded people who have invested by planting hotels all over the country all parading almost the same rounds of facilities and services which are not serious elixir or magnet of luring the customers.
And this is where, Honourable Adebayo Morakinyo, promoter of DBLIS–TIT Hotel, located off Iyin Road, behind Alade Global Filling Station, Ado–Ekiti has carved a niche for the hotel by exploring the powerful message of pounded yam to hoodwink customers to its luxurious domain and experience of service its best.
Apart from the god location of this hotel and its excellent service powered by the good and well trained staff, DBLIS – TIT has perfected the traditional way of pounding and tending the yam into a super pounded yam with great taste lavished with vegetable soup garnished with abundant local condiments.
Mr Uche Alexandria, an engineer who frequent Ado–Ekiti for business tourism said “Apart from the fact that this hotel parades efficient and effective facilities, it has mastered the culinary art of producing original pounded yam in Ekiti version. You know what I mean, I am fond of pounded yam and I noticed there is difference between the Lagos pounded yam and the one I eat here. Since 2016, I have not missed bunking in this hotel particularly because of its excellence service and majorly its brand of pounded has hoodwinked me”.
Honourable Morakinyo said “The fact that we serve the best pounded yam in Ado–Ekiti is not a calculated act but part of our tradition of being the best in whatever we are doing. The matter of the pounded yam came to me as surprise in 2016 when 98 per cent of our customers responded to our questionnaire telling us that our pounded yam is the best. In fact, some of our customers are in the habit of inviting their colleagues who might have been in other hotels to come for a lunch of pounded yam. And by so doing, we gain many customers and patrons”.
He disclosed “there is no magic in this. If you do it appropriately, the natural way it should be prepared, it will come out in the natural form and the taste will be the best. This is what we do here. Venture in one day and you will testify that at DBLIS –TIT Hotel no hotel does pounded yam better. You are welcome”.
