Day family, friends and associates celebrated Ajulo at 40

Lagos-based industrialist, Anthony Ajulo, last Saturday hosted associates, friends and family to a colourful party to celebrate his 40th birthday.

The co-founder and managing partner at Colton Group used the occasion to thank God for the grace to attain the age and for the successes he has achieved in the manufacturing sector in Nigeria.

Speaking to Friday Treat at the event, he said, “To have lived to 40 and be young at heart and in physique is the grace of God. So I’m happy and grateful to God.”

Life begins at 40 but for Ajulo, achieving this milestone is a challenge to having more impact on life.

“Going forward, my dream is to further contribute my quota to making Nigeria a great nation. I believe my generation has the responsibility to rewrite the history of Africa; and if we miss it, then probably Africa has missed it.

“So I’m going to invest myself in the next 40 years in that direction through building industries, influencing policies empowering people in any way I can to see how we can move our nation forward,” he said.

Under the Colton Group is Advanced Concrete Technologies, provider of construction chemical solution, concrete accessories and comprehensive waterproof system whose Costar brand has grown into one of the market leaders in the construction industry.

Along with Collins Balogun, his childhood friend and partner, Mr Ajulo described the successes of their companies as a product of hardwork, focus and having a positive mindset despite challenges.

He said “The thing that separates an employer from an employee is mindset. If you have the right mindset, you could within the period of five to 10 years transition from being an employee to being an employer.

“You can be an entrepreneur in manufacturing, trading, export and import, consulting, construction, and the services sector. Its not just a function of experience having worked 10 to 15 years. “You have to work on your state of mind too, because it can be a lonely journey.

Statistics say most businesses die within the first five years, but with tenacity, grit,  staying power and consistency, yours will pay off.”

The event, which featured several inspirational tributes and worship session, was wrapped up with Ajulo showing off his dancing skills.
