The Nigerian and African headliners for the Gidi Cultural Festival, known as GidiFest, has been announced.

Davido, Bourna Boy, Sheyi Shay, Reekado Banks, Simi and Niniola, Dj Obi and  Dj Neptune are among the Nigerian stars in the line-up for this year’s showdown, along with some of the other African performing acts, including East African Afro-pop singing sensation, Souti Sol and Vanessa Mdee.

The Director, Gidi Culture Festival, Mr Chinedu Okeke, who made the announcement during a press briefing for the forthcoming event, said the international star headliner would be disclosed soon.

Okeke also reeled out new additions to the show that will etch this year’s edition in the minds of participants.

Beside the line-up of stars, Okeke said,  “there is going to be a beach soccer tournament and a beach volley ball tournament, where we have celebrity captains, who will be playing fan scenes.

“We also have a new addition this year, which is the Fan Zone, which is guaranteed to bring out the kid in our guests. We will be showcasing great food and drink. The vendors will be sampling different delicacies.

“The highlight of the whole event is great musical performances. Each of the headlining artistes has expressed readiness to shut-down the show. They are already rehearsing five weeks before.

“Gidiculture celebrates our culture. It represents the progression of every new culture on the continent in terms of music, food and art. Lagos is the melting point for the African music movement.

We are bringing communities, people together. We often say that it was created by the youth for the youth, but we will like to distinguish our guests as youth-minded individuals. We have had guests in their 40s and 50s as well as young people as young as 15 and 18 come for GidiFest. We welcome everybody that just wants to have a good time with their friends and family.

This year’s edition will be taking place at the Eko Atlantic on the 17th of April as a cashless event supported by Kenya Airways, Pepsi, LASAA, Red Bull, Mikano, Hyperia, Filmhouse, Trek Buy Fly and House of Lunettes.
