‘Data centre industry is highly underserved in Nigeria’

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), CitiData, Andie Moyan, has lamented that data centres industry in Nigeria is highly underserved.

Speaking at the official launch of the company in Lagos, the CEO noted that the kind of traffic in the country is enough to have a smooth operation of data centres.

According to him, the creation of data centres will help meet the needs of start-ups in the country.

“The Data centre industry is highly underserved. The kind of data traffic the company has is enough to speak for itself. This idea can meet the needs of the start-ups,” he said.

Also Speaking, the Chairman of CitiData, Adedeji Adeniyi, noted the ongoing data aggregation, adding that the technology cost in driving SMEs is becoming unreachable.

Adeniyi assured of quality, adherence to known global standards, and modularity in all ramifications.

He stated that the goal is to help SMEs stay alive via better user experience.

“A lot of data aggregation is going on now. The cost of technology to drive this business is becoming unreachable for start-ups. The big providers are not able to power this group because of the cost implication.

“There will be quality, adherence to known global standards, modularity. We approached our data centers in modular forms.

“Our goal is to ensure they stay alive. We are increasing their probability of survival and better user experience,” Adedeji said.

In his remarks, a Nigerian engineer, Babajide Soyode, said the Small and Medium Enterprises are the backbone of industrial development.

Soyode explained that it is the small business that will create jobs, noting that this will catalyze the development of Nigeria.
