THE Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, will lead other prominent Islamic leaders to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Sunday for a fundraising for the building of the Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS’s) N1.5 billion International Islamic Centre.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of MUSCOYS, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said the Oyo State governor, Senator Is-haq Abiola Ajimobi, would host his counterparts from Osun, Ogun, Kano and Kaduna states at the event.

MUSCOYS chairman, Alhaji Is-haq Kunle Sanni, said the president of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, would lead others like Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, Alhaji Ahmed Raji (SAN) and the Deputy President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and president of the Muslim Ummah of Soouth West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Sakariyau Babalola, to the event.

The fundraising, slated for MUSCOYS’s permanent site at the Aerodrome GRA, Samonda, Ibadan, will start from 10.00 a.m.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, other Islamic title holders as well as members of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland.

Sanni said the multipurpose centre would be the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa as it contains all facilities for the use of the Muslim Ummah.

According to the Muslim leader, although located in Ibadan, the centre belongs to all Muslims and all Muslim groups have been invited to be part of the “history-making occasion.”
