FAMILY, friends and kinsmen of Olapade Ojo odidie , a former South South Regional Director at Dangote Cement PLC, who was abducted on the 22nd of April 2017 in Rivers State have urged the Inspector General of Police , Ibrahim Idris , the Rivers State government and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the missing man
The wife and other family members of the missing Dangote Cement boss also described the last eighty four days without her husband as “ harrowing “ but expressed her hope that the missing Olapade would be rescued .
The family and friends of the missing Olapade fondly called Pade also said that the abductors had as the 83rd day of the abduction yet to contact them just as the vehicle and mobile phone of the victim had been recovered by the police .”
Tope Orole the coordinator of the Intervention Committee on Pade Ojoodide , while speaking with journalists in Lagos on Friday said “ today marks the 83rd day , since we last heard or communicate with our brother , who until his disappearance was a Regional director , South South with Dangote Cement PLC and based in Warri , Delta State .”
He continued that “ Olapade Ojoodide travelled to Awka , Anambra State in the early hours of Saturday April 22nd 2017 to attend an official event , being hosted by one of the company’ s major distributors “
Orolu , who is a member of the Ekiti Panupo Group , which the missing Olapade was a member until his abduction also added that “ He attended the event with three other directors of the company , after which he was presumed to have travelled back to Asaba to check out of the hotel , where he lodged and thereafter headed to Warri via Port Harcourt and since then , we have not heard from him.”
“ The case was immediately reported to the Rivers State Police Command in Port Harcourt and the police authorities have been investigating the matter since then but without any breakthrough .” Orolu also added .
He also said that “ the police command confirmed the case as an abduction and has recovered his mobile phone and officials car , Prado Jeep , { black} with the Registration NO KSF580 DN “
The coordinator of the team to rescue the missing Olapade appealed that “ we are therefore using this opportunity to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria , the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force , Rivers State government and well – meaning Nigerians to come to our aid in the search and rescue of our brother from his abductors.”
“ While we appreciate the recent efforts of the security agencies aimed at tackling the menace of kidnapping and other crimes across the nation , we are worried that the continued delay in the rescue operations might lead to grave consequences that are hard to imagine “ Orolu also said
He also said that “ the sad even of his abduction has brought untold hardship and pain to his wife , children and members of his immediate family and Ekiti Parapo family at large .”
Wife of the missing Olapade , Rosemary , told journalists that “ the last eighty three days has been a very harrowing experience for me and my children . It is as if I have not had a trial in my life before ..This is very serious .”
She also called for anybody with useful information that could help in rescuing her husband to come forward and help the family .
The woman also said that the family had not been contacted by the abductors and that she had not received any information on the development on the operation to rescue her husband over a long period of time.
