Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Professor Bashir Garba has solicited the cooperation of staff of the University to achieve the smooth running of the University.
A statement signed and made available by the spokesman of the school, Ismaila Muhammed, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday said Professor Bashir Garba made the call during an interaction with Deans and Directors in the University shortly after formal taking over the mantle of leadership in the school from the then acting Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Garba Mahuta.
The statement stated that Professor Bashir Garba expressed delight for coming back to the University after 12 years of sojourn during which he held various key positions both at State and Federal levels.
He said “Am glad to come back home, this is where I started my career, indeed I’m happy to be with you again.
“My immediate challenge was to ensure that all programmes of the
University both undergraduate and postgraduate get full accreditation from the National University Commission.
“Let me also express my willingness to encourage professors in the University to promptly deliver their inaugural lectures”
The new Vice-Chancellor disclosed that presently there is a link which takes stock of all professors in Nigerian Universities and therefore urged full professors in Usmanu Danfodiyo University to register with the link as it will go a long way to complement accreditation requirements.
Also, as the University clocks 50 years by 2025, the Vice-Chancellor expressed readiness to celebrate its 50 years Silver Jubilee.
He assured that a committee will be set up to come up with modalities towards successful hosting of the silver Jubilee.
