Dancing time for Seyi Makinde

Published by

Politics is in the air and those that are actively involved are overwhelmed with their itineraries into the next phase of Nigeria’s political system. But the case of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Seyi Makinde, is different.

The engineer-turned-politician, who is passionate to serve his people, in the last two weeks, has created time out of his tight schedules to concentrate on things that are not related politics. He has identified with the needy, children and church affairs.

Last Sunday, Makinde, was installed as the Patron of the ST Paul’s Anglican Church Choir, Ibadan South Diocese (Anglican Communion) Odo-Ona, Ibadan, Oyo State. The event did not only feature the ambiance and decorations the politician, but also witnessed his gesture, as he launched the new album of the church choir with the sum of N250, 000.

In a related development, Makinde, on December 15, took time out to identify and celebrate with underprivileged children.

The event organised by a popular nongovernmental organisation (NGO), in Ibadan, Ark of Hope Foundation, hosted about 1, 000 kids as part of its efforts to give them the opportunity to feel the celebration of Yuletide like other privileged children.

Makinde, who is the chairman, Board of Trustees of the organisation, was delighted to celebrate with the kids at the event, as he danced and raised their hopes for a brighter future.

According to the brain behind the NGO, Seyi Akinbohun, the gesture of Makinde demonstrated the kind of passionate and visionary leader the state will have if he is elected Oyo State governor in 2019.

“This initiative has nothing to do with or related to politics, but it is evident that the hopes of the underprivileged and hopeless both home and young, will be restored. They will enjoy equal benefits and rights with others in the society. We are delighted that we recorded another success this year and we are hopeful that our resort centre for the underprivileged will be established through the support of well-meaning Nigerians,” she said.

Another event was held on December 22, to celebrate the politician, as he was honoured with an award by the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU). A praise concert, which featured the performances of notable gospel musicians such as, Yinka Ayefele, Bukola Akinade, among other artistes, was also held to rounded off the year  by the politician on same day.
