All is now set for the official commissioning of multi-million Naira Dadin-Kowa Hydropower Plant in Gombe scheduled for December this year, as Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has on Thursday met with the company handling the project
The Governor also used the meeting to make a strong case for the adoption of the local content policy in the execution of projects as well as the implementation of policies and programs.
Managing Director of Mabon Energy Limited, the company handling the project, Mr Christopher Cyril who assured that the project will be completed for it to be commissioned during a meeting with Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House, Gombe said that his company is now putting finishing touches on the project.

The MD who presented a progress report which contains an overview of the project to the Governor said that all is now set for its launching, requesting the Governor as the Chief Executive Officer of the state to fix any convenient date in December for the commissioning ceremony.
The Governor expressed delight that after several years of abandonment, the Dadinkowa Hydropower project is now coming to fruition, noting that apart from enhancing electricity supply, the plant will also promote micro, small and medium enterprises for the benefit of the people of the state.
He said that already there is a plan on ground by the Federal Government to commence 3000-hectare irrigation expansion scheme in Dadin-Kowa while Transmission Company of Nigeria, (TCN) will also set up a sub-station to service other areas.
Inuwa Yahaya further disclosed that his administration is considering the establishment of an industrial park within the vicinity or along the river belt in order to reap maximally from the project’s value chain.
The Governor then used the occasion to make a strong case for the company handling the plant to adopt a local content policy in its service and operations for the economic benefit of the host community and the entire people of the state and assured that a date in December will soon be announced for the commissioning of the project.
The Dadinkowa Hydropower Plant in Gombe state which is to be commissioned in December this year will produce 40 megawatts of electricity to improve and stabilise power supply as well as promote socio-economic development of the region and the country at large as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
