Daddy Showkey tells govt to legalise marijuana

Published by

In a live video on his Instagram page, veteran Nigerian reggae musician, John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has called on the government to make more researches on the benefits of marijuana on the nation’s economy and also legalise its planting.

The ghetto dance inventor and ‘fire fire’ crooner said many countries around the world have legalised the planting and usage of weed for medicinal purposes. He thus advised that it is was time the Nigerian government woke up and see that Nigeria could also benefit from it as it will, according to him, provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the country.

“When will we start thinking in Nigeria? Many countries are surviving with weed – that we call igbo; what we don’t understand is that weed is not all about smoking, it is also medicinal, even though a lot of people misuse it. Let us look at the medicinal side of this thing, even though I have never taken weed in my entire life, but I can say that this is something that will create jobs for our teeming unemployed youths.

“It will help a lot of people, it is good for the production of creams, go and research about cannabis; cannabis oil is one of the best oils in the world and it is healthy for the human body. I am not saying you should smoke weed, nothing you smoke is good for your lungs, but I am just saying the Federal Government should look at this opportunity and take it. I commend the Ondo State governor who said he wanted to legalise weed, he should fire on! I wish Delta State governor too could think in this manner, we have the best weed in Delta State,” Showkey said.

Daddy showkey was prominent for his street reggae and galala songs and dances; and was popular for his song ‘somebody call my name’ which was more of a street anthem in its time. Showkey was bedridden for almost three years after an accident, and was later shot by unknown gunmen.
