To enable more Nigerians obtain  voter’s card under the Continuous Voters Registration exercise,  the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has created eight additional  registration centres in Oyo State.

Mr Surajudeen Junaid, the acting Secretary of  INEC in the state, said  this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Friday.

Junaid said the commission took the decision after critical assessment of the ongoing exercise and in  response to the genuine request of  eligible Nigerians.

He said the additional centres approved are Ayun Community Grammar School in Akinyele Local Government Area, Bishop Philip Academy in Egbeda Local Government and  Emmanuel College of  Theology at Samonda, Ibadan North Local Government Area.

Others are Baptist Secondary School at Oke-Ado, Ibadan South West Local Government Area,  Igangan town hall at Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area and  Olomi Primary School 11 in Oluyole Local Government Area.

The rest are Aba Araba in Ido Local Government Area and Oko town hall in Surulere Local Government Area.

The acting secretary enjoined qualified Nigerians residing in areas where the centres were  to make use of the opportunity.

He, however,  warned against double registration,  saying it still remains an  electoral offence.

NAN reports that the registration exercise commenced across the country on April 27 while  43,963 new voters had been registered in the state as at June 27.

They were made up of  23,829 males and 20,134 females
