The Senior Vice President of CVL, Mr Rasheed Adegbenro made this known on Tuesday while speaking at the conference hall of the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles during a courtesy call of his organization to the management of the ANN Plc, adding that CVL is passionate about equipping youths and young professionals with the best practice values to make the value-driven leaders that will engender improvement of the quality of life as future leaders.
Adegbenro added that the LWT, which takes the form of a leadership tribute colloquium to honour outstanding leaders in particular sectors of the economy for their special contributions and achievements, is aimed at giving inspiration to youths in the sector where they worked so they can learn to be the next generation of leaders without care for title.
According to him, the series targets people above 70 years of age who have lived a life of value as a means of using their lives and experience to teach younger generations, explaining that the Ibadan programme will be celebrating a renowned medical expert, Prof Theophilus Ogunlesi and will be targeted at community health care service delivery with focus on the grassroots.
He stated that the colloquium which will parade five eminent speakers will be attended by southwest governors and the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, adding that another programme with a focus on Information and Communication Technology will hold in Lagos on Thursday to celebrate Chief Don Etiebet for his pioneering efforts and landmark achievements in ICT.
The programme according to the CVL boss, like its other projects like Role Model Forum among other empowerment scheme is based on its vision of shaping the world, one mind at a time to bridge the gap between knowledge, values and results within the society by empowering young people with leadership skills to enable them to make lasting contributions in every area of life.
He reiterated the organizations commitment to the elevation of the dignity of people by improving the quality of life of young professionals and youths by building good values in them through the provision of tools that will transform them and make them a blessing to the society.
Speaking on behalf of the Tribune management, the Group Business Editor, Pastor Sulaimon Olanrewaju, stated that it is encouraging that an organization is looking at ways of selling the right values to young people in Nigeria as the value system has been eroded, adding that there is a need for a change of orientation.
According to him, the country will be placed on a better pedestal once it gets leaders that can think right, adding that Tribune will support CVL in its activities which he described as laudable and express the hope that the government will buy into the project of reviving the value system in the country.
