The rate at which Nigerian youths, particularly female teenagers, dress provocatively is becoming alarming. It is not uncommon to see students in the institutions of higher learning scantily dressed. Putting on attires that reveal sensitive body parts is offensive to decent people. Partial nudity is alien to African culture and does not show any respect for womanhood. Just where would Nigeria be without due regard for womanhood?
In my view, the nation’s law enforcement agencies and parents should adopt strict measures to tackle indecent dressing in the country. They cannot afford to shirk their responsibilities in this regard. Parents, in particular, should caution their children on their modes of dressing, and encourage them to dress decently. It is said that charity begins at home. The government has a duty to mandate the law enforcement agencies to find ways of curbing indecent dressing, particularly among students. There must be appropriate punishment for the offence.
