CUPP inaugurates new executives, harps on industrialisation of Ekiti

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has inaugurated its new executives that will pilot the affairs of the coalition in Ekiti State.

The inauguration, held at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, was attended by stakeholders, including opposition leaders.

The new executives include Hon. Dare Adekolu (Chairman), Chief Moses Awogbemi (Deputy Chairman), Adefisayo Martins (Secretary), Ade Ogunkolade (Treasurer), Chief Sam Abiola (Organising Secretary), Oluwole Fagboro (Publicity Secretary), Dr Jacob Akinola (Financial Secretary), Mrs Abiodun Nikoro (Assistant Secretary), and Chief B.T Oluwole (Legal Services).

The new CUPP Chairman, Adekolu, commended members for the confidence he repossessed in repositioning the opposition in the state.

He reiterated his resolve to remain committed to the cause of providing credible and responsive opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, the coalition would carry out a massive awareness campaign for the residents to know their rights, especially during elections, towards the development of society.

He said, “The coalition comprises political actors, either former or present state chairmen/state working committee members of defunct or current political parties or other pressure groups within the state.

“Our goals include voters’ education and awareness, advocating for good governance at all levels, and promoting an alliance of opposition parties for elections to avoid vote-splitting.”

Adekolu urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji not to be distracted by a series of endorsements ahead of the 2026 governorship election, saying, “The governor should be cautious of the fact that he has just finished his first half and that the second half of any game is a strong determining factor, but on the part of the CUPP in Ekiti State.”

He further said, “We have seasoned experts/professionals in various fields among us; therefore, we will take legitimate steps to understudy/review the performance of this administration in the last two years and relay to the public soon.

“Our strong desire is to see an industrialised Ekiti, a state where lives and property are safe, a state with infrastructural development, food security/improved health facilities, and corrupt-free governance.

“With these, we can be sure of a prosperous Ekiti that our future generation will be proud of and posterity will judge us well.”
