Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II)
• Unveils ‘Drum of Peace’ in Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has unveiled the drum of peace project in the ancient city, saying peaceful co-existence among ethnic nationalities in the country can be deepened when Nigerians return to the values inherent in their culture and traditions.
He said peace among ethnic nationalities can be further enhanced through values embedded in our culture and tradition, which he said was germane to the social and economic growth of the nation.
Oba Ogunwusi expressed optimism that going back to the dictates of rich culture and tradition of every ethnic group in Nigeria would not only strengthen the country’s peace, but also enhance speedy development.
While observing that peace has its cost, the traditional ruler maintained that everybody must be ready to pay the price of peace to guarantee harmonious co-existence.
Oba Ogunwusi subsequently named the popular drummer, Aralola Olumuyiwa, known in entertainment circle as “Ara” as ambassador for the drum of peace project.
Earlier, the Ambassador of Drum of Peace, Aralola Olamuyiwa, whose profession is drumming, commended the royal father for being a lover of peace and promoter of youth empowerment.
She contended that talking drum had been known for ages as an instrument for diverse situations and occasions, adding that with the increasing spate of violence globally, the drum should be used to speak the language of peace to all.
