THE management of LG Electronics has again emphasised the company’s commitment to using technology to improves lives, and enhance the livelihood of its operating environment.

The Corporate Marketing Manager, LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr Paul Mba, stated this at the commissioning of a solar-powered borehole, donated by the company to the University of Benin community.

Mba described the borehole as not just about providing water to the community, but creating a sustainable future, where where renewable energy plays a key role in meeting basic needs.

“This is the first university we are donating a solar-powered borehole to in Nigeria, and I hope it will be maintained so that incoming students will enjoy the facility.

“The initiative aims to provide sustainable water access for the entire campus community, fostering a healthier and more productive environment,” he stated.

Mba however, added that ensuring proper maintenance of the facility would set a precedent for future projects that prioritize sustainability and support the growth of educational institutions across the region.

The institution’s vice chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the facility would go a long way in addressing the issue of water supply on the campus.

“Access to clean water is essential for both academic and residential life. Having a solar-powered solution ensures reliability, while promoting environmental responsibility,” the VC, who was represented by the university’s Chairman, Security Committee, Professor Fred Ekhaise, stated.
