Crude oil theft: Group lauds NNPCL for promoting transparency

A group set up to tackle rising cases of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited over its outstanding performance in promoting transparency and efficiency.

The group known as the Niger Delta Anti-Pipeline Vandalization and Oil Theft Task Force Group (NAVOTTFG) said the Managing Director of the NNPC Trading Limited, Lawal Sade, has profitably marketed and ensured refined petroleum products supply.

The group, made up of former ex-militant leaders in the region led by Comrade Fiawei Pathfinder stated that the Managing Director of the NNPC Trading Limited has used his wealth of experience to take major and bold steps to reposition, transform and organize the NNPC Trading Company to enviable height.

Fiawei, in a statement issued at the end of an emergency meeting attended by other ex-militant leaders and stakeholders from the oil producing communities in the creek of the Niger Delta, stated that “Lawal is a global phenomenon and has been an essential marketer over the last 30 years.

“And has served in various capacities and proven himself capable competent and accomplished thoroughbred quintessential leader with a track record of distinction of transparent excellent service delivery in the nation’s oil and gas value chain.

“He has carved a niche for himself and also successfully enhanced the bottom -top performance approach in various positions he held before now.

“Mr Lawal Sade the Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Trading Company is a household name that has shown much capacity building and demonstrated magnificent high level of excellent performance in quality service delivery in the nation’s oil sector.

“And it is also on record while in NNPC Retail Limited, Mr Lawal primarily introduced the Sales and Marketing Unit and also lead the SWAT team that transited NNPCL Retail to cash and carry operating model that resulted to huge financial savings and entrenched internal control mechanism framework to position the NNPC Retail Limited today.

“At this juncture, the leadership of the Anti-pipeline Vandalization and Oil Theft Task Force Group, emphatically commend and applaud the Managing Director of NNPC Trading, Mr Lawal Sade for his transparent and outstanding performance in service delivery.

“And for standing tall in the nation’s downstream sector, and for bringing his wealth of experience by taking major and bold steps to reposition, transform and organize the NNPC Trading Company to an enviable height that is remarkable before all Nigerians.

“We are bold to also state that since the appointment of Mr Lawal at the helm of affairs of NNPCL Trading there is transparency in the entire value chain of the nation crude oil and petroleum products wholesale distribution network that has brought about sanity accountability that led to international and national oil major players.

“Lawal, has rejuvenated the sector by working assiduously to restructure, transform and reposition the NIDAS, which the organisation is now a force to be reckoned with in the international shipping market after prolonged seven years of delay.

“Mr Lawal championed the turnaround process that resulted in resolving long outstanding legacy issues, which led to increased and diversified revenue generation, which has placed NIDAS on the path of growth sustainability.

“There is no gainsaying about the fact that Mr Lawal Sade has successfully and enviously placed NNPCL strategically to be a member of the prestigious Oil Company International Marine Forum (OCIMF), a globally recognized shipping community, which is a major boost to Nigeria’s image in the comity of nation.

“And we are very impressed with this milestone achievement that translated into a monthly Official Selling Pricing method which is called (OSP) that benchmarked to date the Brent price for both Nigerian Crude Oil and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) to grade selection process of NNPC-L off takers (DSDP, Crude oil and NGLs) and overall contracts management and administration process in the entire value chain of the nation oil sector.

“It is significant and heart-warming reforms that make it very important for the nation’s economy, and all these are attributed to Mr Lawal Sade achievements, reforms and policy framework have been remarkable and highly commendable.”
