Crisis hits Plateau PDP: Party Chairman, Deputy suspended

Published by

The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau  State has been thrown into crisis following the suspension of the State Chairman of the party, Hon Damishi Sango and his deputy Hon Amos Gombi Goyol for a financial misdemeanour.

Even as the embattled State Chairman has described the party state executives members behind his travail as Judas Iscariot, adding that their action was illegal.

According to the resolution of the party made available to Tribune Online at the end of its emergency meeting on Wednesday, the executive of the party passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman and his Deputy over misappropriation of resources sent to the State for the presidential election.

The resolution read thus: “That the resources sent to the State for the Presidential elections were not accounted for by the Chairman aided by the Deputy Chairman concealed the amount sent by the Presidential Campaign Committee and created a fraudulent unseen template used as “a sharing formula” unknown to the State Party Structure and up till date, no disclosure has been made by the Chairman and/or the Deputy Chairman”.

The party also alleged that the money raised and saved by the Party to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to help relieve their pains were also not accounted for adding that no mention has been made of the stated funds.

” It is worthy to note that the Deputy Chairman is the Chairman Committee on IDPs for the party. The money meant for PDP Plateau State retreat was equally not accounted for by the Chairman and/or the Deputy Chairman.

“The arbitrary substitution of the legitimate candidate who won his primaries for Wase Federal House of Representatives by the Chairman and this Deputy without recourse to the EXCO or SEC due to some financial inducement to the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman cost PDP to lose the election in Wase Federal House of Representatives,” said the executives

It further posited that the highhandedness of the Chairman and his Deputy has plunged the party into confusion couple with high disregard to Elders, Stakeholders and Members of the SEC as their advises and decisions no longer relevant to the chairman and his deputy.

It however dissolved the State Campaign Council with immediate effect and directed that all  party properties in whatsoever description  in their possession should be returned to the State Party Secretariat within 48 hours and directed the State Vice Chairman Northern Senatorial Zone, Hon. Chris Hassan to take over the leadership of the party as Acting State Chairman.

Apparently reacting to his suspension, the embattled chairman said all the allegations raised against him and his deputy were baseless adding those who took the decision were Judas Iscariot and sponsored agents out to destroyed the party.

“Their action was illegal, it will not stand. This is the month that our Lord Jesus Christ was betrayed, they are the Judas Iscariot of this month, they will not succeed, my suspension was illegal and I am not moved by their illegal action.

“If there is an issue like that,  there are lay down procedures. Nobody calls for a meeting, a group just sat down to take a decision without carrying other stakeholders along. They are embarrassing themselves and at the same time acting the script of their paymaster” he said
