NO fewer than 500 hoodlums were, on Tuesday night, apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police in Warri and environs.
TribuneOnline gathered on Wednesday morning that about 250 policemen in 29 Hilux drafted from all the divisions under Warri Area Command, raided hideouts of suspected criminals where about 500 were arrested.
It was gathered that as of the time of filing this report, the suspects were being scrutinized in order to separate the innocent from the guilty.
Most of the suspected criminals have been holding Warri and environs by the jugular since the inglorious transfer of their nightmare, CSP Eyoh Anietie to Asaba.
CPS Anietie, TribuneOnline had reported last year, was deployed to Asaba in controversial circumstances with residents of Warri and environs staging peaceful protests against someone they said had restored and maintained peace and security in their domain.
With Tuesday’s arrest, other hoodlums are reportedly relocating to other parts of the state after the reported redeployment of CPS Anietie from Asaba to Ebrumede Divisional headquarters this week.
TribuneOnline gathered that the fleeing hoodlums are relocating in droves to places like Sapele, Jesse, Oghara and environs in order to escape being smoked out by the rampaging police squad being led by gallant CPS Anietie now being nicknamed “Calabar.”

However, hoodlums who had hitherto been a field day are reportedly complaining of the return of “Calabar” to Warri axis as DPO at Ebrumede Divisional headquarters.
They accused him of raiding criminal hideouts beyond his area of operation and drafting and enjoying massive supports of other DPOs from B’Division, Ekpan, Enerhen and other divisions in his nocturnal exercise.
Most frightened and taking cover in the command at present, as gathered, are Yahoo Plus Boy who has been on the rampage, killing and using ladies’ undies for money rituals.
Meanwhile, residents including banks, fuel stations and market women in Warri, Ugborikoko, Enerhen, Effurun, Ebrumede, Udu and other flashpoints are beginning to jubilate and have a respite from criminal activities which made life unbearable for them before, during and after the yuletide.
They particularly expressed joy at the return of “Calabar” whom they described as the nightmare of criminals in the areas for his gallantry in smoking out criminals from their hideouts.
Police Commissioner, Delta State Command, Mr Mike Ogbisi, did not respond to calls on his phone, neither did he reply to a text message sent to his phone.
But a senior officer in the command, who is not authorised to speak to the press, confirmed the raid and arrest of the 500 suspected criminals on Tuesday night, adding that they were being sorted out
