Nollywood Actor Jidekene Achufusi, has said that Awards shouldn’t be the only source of motivation for creatives.
In a recent interview with Arise TV, Jidekene Achufusi discussed the importance of awards for people in the creative industry.
Despite not being nominated for the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), Achufusi stressed that while awards are significant, they shouldn’t be the only thing driving individuals in the field.
Reflecting on his own experience, Achufusi recognized that award selections are influenced by different factors, like discovering new talents or honouring seasoned actors. He highlighted the need for personal growth and landing meaningful roles as better indicators of success, rather than solely focusing on winning awards.
Achufusi’s comments shed light on the diverse perspectives within the creative community, emphasising the broader goal of contributing meaningfully to the Nigerian film market beyond just seeking recognition through awards.
