Crack in INC: Dickson urges individuals, groups to sink differences

The umbrella body of Ijaw people world-wide, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has been enmeshed in crisis, particularly leadership crisis, for over two years, as the situation has resulted in massive crack in the relationship among Ijaw people in the region.

The crisis, it was learnt factionalised the pan ijaw group, the INC as harmony disappeared and ijaw leaders are no longer speaking with one voice thus limiting their ability to present a coherent views among comity of ethnic representative bodies like the Afenifere, Arewa and Ndigbo.

The development led to the setting up of a reconciliation committee, by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State with a mandate to identify the immediate and remote cause of the impasse, with a view to proffer solution.

The high packed committee comprising Ijaw sons and daughters, chaired by HRM King Alfred Papa Piriye Diete Spiff, swung into action and presented its report to the Bayelsa State government.

Receiving the committee report, Governor Dickson called on aggrieved parties within the Ijaw National Congress (INC) to sink their differences and abide by the recommendations of the committee set up to resolve the protracted crisis.

Dickson, lauded, the 20-member INC Reconciliation Committee led by King Alfred Diete-Spiff for painstakingly delivering on their assignment and reporting appropriately to him in Government House, Yenagoa.
