COVID-19: We’ll sanction okada riders without face masks ― Association

Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO) in Ogun State, Alhaji Olushola Shotayo has said that the association will sanction any okada riders who operate in the state without face masks.

This warning came shortly after the state governor, Dapo Abiodun bemoaned the lack of adherence to COVID-19 prevention guidelines by okada riders in the state. The governor also warned that he would ban activities of the okada riders if they fail to comply with government directives.

Shotayo, popularly known as Sholebo thereafter warned that any rider who fails to strictly adhere to all guidelines will face the wrath of the law, adding that he is optimistic there will be full compliance with the directives.

According to a statement he personally signed, Shotayo warned all members of the association to be law-abiding and to shun all vices that are detrimental to the reputation of the organisation particularly carrying more than one passenger.

Shotayo commended the efforts of the Abiodun-led administration in the fight against the spread of the novel pandemic in the state, urging all residents to further comply with laid down guidelines on the management of the infection.
