As part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the society, the Nigerian Red Cross Society Anambra State Branch, yesterday, took the sensitization on proper handwashing to First Bank of Nigeria PLC Awka Main Branch, Anambra State.
The branch health coordinator Mrs Chinwe Lawrence-Uchenna, who led the team explained that the decision to take the sensitization to the banking institution is strategic as the bankers on a daily basis come in contact with diverse kind of people and especially during this lockdown period, people easily find time to visit the bank to make some withdrawals for their daily upkeep thereby exposing the bankers.
She went further to enlighten the participants on the preventive measures to imbibe in order to be free from contracting the COVID-19.
There were practical sessions on the best ways to use the face mask and the hand gloves and also a thorough practical session on proper handwashing which was practicalised by all the participants including the Branch Manager Mrs Nwamaka Adimorah and a few other staff.
Mrs Uchenna, went further to make a presentation of hygiene promotion materials to the bank which includes a handwashing bucket and hand sanitizers.
Receiving the items for the bank, Mr Christian Ogbonna who is the relationship manager of First Bank of Nigeria Awka Main branch thanked the Red Cross for always reaching out to the needs of humanity.
Also speaking at the event, the communication coordinator of Nigerian Red Cross Society Anambra State Mr Fidelis Ikeji explained that Red Cross as a humanitarian organisation with the mandate to alleviate the sufferings of the most vulnerable in the society has been at the forefront in carrying out hygiene promotion messages even before the breakout of the pandemic and has now determined to ensure the trainings are carried out more this time that the world need it the most.
