Ooni of Ife
As part of his contributions to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, on Thursday, donated two locally-fabricated modular fumigators and drones to the Ondo State government.
Speaking while handing over the fumigators and drones to the state government, the monarch the reality of the COVID-19 necessitated the need to look inward for homemade solutions as the country must not rest on its oars.
The monarch said the donations were his contribution towards assisting the state in the fight against the pandemic in the state.
He said: “A lot of people will be wondering why I leave my palace and going around with this project. The truth be told, why are you a king if you can’t cater for your people?
“In the olden days, traditional rulers are always at the forefront and give courage to their people during any crisis or war. I am leading by example for every other person to know that COVID-19 is real.

“We are presenting two modular fumigators to the Ondo State government free of charge. The drone will work in term of rendering service for a particular time free of charge.
The monarch commended the governor for the step taken so far, in curtailing the spread of the deadly virus in the state, describing it as commendable and heartwarming.
Speaking while receiving the donation, the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, said the fumigators would assist the state in its bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the state.
He noted that the present situation has encouraged Nigerians to think outside the box and domesticate solutions to a prevailing condition in the country, commending the innovation.
Akeredolu said the state would make efforts to procure more of the locally-fabricated modular fumigators for the use in the state, noting that the fumigator will serve a more effective purpose.
