COVID-19: Davido to lose millions to US tour postponement

A US tour that could have further enriched the pocket of Nigerian super star singer, Davido with some millions in dollars has now been halted as the ravaging pandemic Coronavirus has forced the singer to cancel is ongoing US tour.

As the singer and his team prepare to return home over fears COVID-19 having been informed that the tour that would have taken them across many cities in US and Europe has been halted as global concerns grow over the spread of the virus.

The tour, tagged Good Time Tour would have earned the singer millions of dollars with each show believed to have sold out even before it commenced. Davido is known to always have a sold out crowd at most of his shows, and this tour would not have been an exception.

The singer who has been on an international tour for the past few weeks made the announcement on Friday via his Instagram page, while also appealing to fans to bear with him over the decision.

The highlight of the tour was in Los Angeles when American singer, Chris Brown, joined him onstage to perform their hits, ‘Blow My Mind’ and ‘Lower Body’.

Davido revealed that though the postponement of the show might cost him some millions as he had made arrangements to have a sold out tour, adding that the outbreak of coronavirus forced him to suspend the tour over the safety of his crew members and fans as the disease has now become a global crisis.

The One Milli singer, who disclosed this, an hour after performing in Denver, Colorado, US, however admitted that it is the right thing to do and that the safety of his fans and staff is most important at this moment.

He wrote: “I’m saddened to halt what has been a fantastic sold-out tour so far, but postponing is the right thing to do. The health and safety of my fans and staff is most paramount and nothing else matters. Be safe and see you all soon! God be with us all!”

Also speaking on the postponement, conveners of the show, Duke Concept Entertainment in a statement on Friday said “Our team has tried everything in our ability to make this show happen; however, the government has restricted every large gathering at this time as seen in every major news.

“The new tour dates will be announced as soon as the ban is lifted. We will be issuing full refunds to all individuals please allow up to 2-3weeks.”
