Court sentenced 28 years old security guard to 6 months jail for stealing N3,800 drinks in Osun

An Osogbo Chief Magistrate Court, on Monday, sentenced a 28-year-old security guard, identified as Emmanuel Ajayi to six months of imprisonment for stealing alcoholic drinks worth N3,800.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs Mariam Olaoyede handed down the sentence on the convict, having pleaded guilty to a 2-count charge of burglary and theft.

However, Olaoyede gave the convict an option of fine of N10,000 in lieu of the six months imprisonment

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Abiodun Fagboyinbo informed the court that the accused broke into the shop of one Mr Ade Bamibo and escaped with some alcoholic drinks.

He explained that the theft occurred at 5.00am on the 13th of January, 2018 at Adebambutayo Shopping Complex in Osogbo, Osun State capital, submitting that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State.
