Court remands seven in prison for allegedly vandalising police van

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, on Wednesday, ruled that seven suspects be remanded in prison custody for allegedly vandalising Police vehicle.

The accused person include Oladimeji Abdulah(25),Oyetunji Joel(50),Ramoni Saheed(28),Samuel Augustine(29),Abioye Sunday(35),Muritala Dare(67) and Abosede Adediran(23).

The Police prosecutor, Mr S.O Oladele, said that the accused persons attacked the Police while conveying a suspected kidnapper with guns, machete and stick, and also stole Techno spark3, ItelS12, a wristwatch, a sum of N7,000 and three exhibit riffles recovered from kidnapper arrested by the police.

The accused persons, who were alleged to have committed the offence on October 21, 2019, at Oyan community in Osun State also vandalised a Suzuki minibus worth N1.5m.

According to the prosecutor, the accused injured some police and also poured petrol on them in an attempt to burn them, saying the injured policemen include Sergeant Ogunleye Gbenga, Sergeant Olukotun Bunmi and Corporal Omopariola.

However, the court did not take the plea of the accused due to the magnitude of the offence committed.

Presiding Magistrate Segun Ayilara, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in the correctional centre and adjourned the case to December 18, 2019, for mention.
