Court remands sales rep for stealing employer’s N256,000

AN Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday ordered that a 28-year-old sales representative, Bode Adeleke, who stole N256,000 belonging to his employer be remanded in prison, pending sentencing.

Adeleke, who resides at No. 17, Shoyinade Street, Mangoro, Agege in Lagos, pleaded guilty to theft.

The Chief Magistrate, A.A. Fashola, adjourned the case until July 10, for sentencing.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah told the court that the defendant stole N256,000 belonging to the Multi-Pro Consumer Products Limited.

Unah told the court that Adeleke committed the offence on June 13, at 8 a.m. at Gate 5, Ladipo Oluwole Street, Ikeja.

He said that Mr Olufemi Akinwale, the supervisor of the company, reported the matter at the police station after Adeleke sold the products and converted the money to his personal use.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
