A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old Pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Victor Oluwasegun, to a correctional center for impregnating a 15- year old girl.
The Pastor was said to have also impregnated five other young girls in the family way.
Oluwasegun was said to have had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor on July 24th, 2024 in the Oba-Ile area.
The young girl’s mother was said to have locked her out of the house while the pastor lured her to her house and slept with the minor.
The girl, however, refused to return home there after staying with the pastor for some days and all efforts to persuade her to return home failed before she was discovered to be pregnant.
Oluwasegun was however, arraigned by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on a one count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.
The prosecutor, David Ebriku, said the offence contravened Section 31(1) of the Child Rights’ Laws of Ondo State 2007and punishable under Section 31(2) of the same Laws.
The charge read “That you, Olusegun Victor, male, 31 years old, at about 1 pm on the 24th day of July 2024 at No 73 Owode, off airport road, Oba-Ile, Akure within Akure Magisterial district did commit a felony, to wit, unlawful sexual intercourse on a minor, Miss Precious Olisemeke, 15 years, thereby committed an offense contrary to section 31(1) of the Child Rights’ Laws of Ondo State 2007 and punishable under section 31(2) of the same laws.”
However, the plea of the suspect was not taken as the court had no jurisdiction to entertain the case while the prosecutor urged the court to remand the suspect to a Correctional Centre
The counsel to the suspected serial rapist, Mr. Alex Odunayo Olademehin, asked the court for time to respond to the remand application.
The Presiding Magistrate, Taiwo Lebi, remanded the suspect to a Correctional Centre, and adjourned hearing to September 19, 2024, for hearing of the bail application.
