COURT
A 31-year-old man, Emmanuel Oyebanji, on Thursday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with rape.
Oyebanji, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of threat to life and unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman.
Police prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo had told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in March, on Awobo Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant threatened the 25-year-old lady (names withheld) and forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the alleged offences contravene Sections 260 and 265 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court did not take the plea of the defendant.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.R. Williams-Isichie, ordered that he should be kept in prison, adding that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
She adjourned the case until May 21 for mention.
