Court remands man for stealing beans in Ibadan

A court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan has remanded a 20-year-old man, Samuel John, at Agodi prison, for alleged burglary and theft of raw beans worth N20,000.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that John on Friday pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of breaking into a dwelling house and stealing, preferred against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, therefore, ordered that he be remanded at Agodi prison until Tuesday, Sept. 10 for review of facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Phillip Amusan, told the court that on September 2, at 6.00 a.m., the defendant burgled the house of one Ms Felicia Oni, at Oke-Oloro area, Omi-Adio, Ibadan, with intent to steal.

Amusan said that the defendant stole raw beans valued at N20,000 from Oni’s house.

He said that the case was reported at Omi-Adio Police Station.

According to him, the offences contravene Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
