Court remands man for killing brother in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 25-year-old man,  Ebenezer Olorunleke, in prison over alleged conspiracy and murder.
Tribune Online had reported the killing of one Sunday Olorunleke, a motorcyclist who was stabbed to death in his residence in Ado Ekiti.
Upon his arrest by the police, Ebenezer disclosed how he led three others to killed his brother.
Ebenezer, whose address was not given is facing one-count of conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olubu Apata,  told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on August 29 at Abekoko, Federal housing area in Ado-Ekiti.
Apata alleged that the defendant conspired with his three friends and murdered a 35-year-old man, Mr Olorunleke Sunday.
He said the defendant conspired with his friends to rob his brother of his motorcycle.
The prosecutor said in the process, there was struggle between the deceased and the defendant alongside his cohorts.
He said that the defendant and his cohorts stabbed the deceased twice and hit his head with rod, which led to his death, while they locked the deceased inside the house.
He said that it was the neighbours that alerted others of his corpse in the house.
He further said the defendant was apprehended by the police, while the other three had fled away.
According to him, the offence contravened section 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the Court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from Office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, consequently remanded the defendant in prison and adjourned the case until October 24,2019 for mention.
