Court remands man for allegedly killing woman

AN Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Osun, on Monday ordered the remand of 50-year-old man, Akintilebo Akinwumi, docked for allegedly shooting one Blessing Fagbemigbe to death.

The prosecutor, Insp. Christian Olajide, told the court that the accused also attempted to kill three other persons, Samson Ogekakin, Eluyera Lekan and Chukwu Felix, by allegedly shooting at them.

The Magistrate, Muhibah Olatunji, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered that Akinwumi should be remanded because her court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the case.

Olatunji asked the prosecutor to forward the case file to the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Olajide told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Ita-Akogun Street, Ile-Ife.
Olajide stated that the offences contravened Sections 316, 319 (1) and 320 (1), Laws of Osun, 2002.
