A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Thursday, remanded a 35-year-old man, Sulaimon Akande, accused of defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Akande of Osungbade area, Sanyo, Ibadan, was in court on a lone count charge of defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs T. B Oyekanmi, who did not take the plea of the accused of lack of jurisdiction on the matter, ordered that the defendant be remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre.
He ordered that the case file be forwarded to the state Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
Oyekanmi, thereafter, adjourned the matter till March 2, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Ojeleye, said that the offence was committed on Jan.1 at about 8 p.m. in Osungbade area of Sanyo Ibadan.
Ojeleye told the court that the victim was running an errand for her parents when the defendant who lived in the same area with her trailed her behind.
The prosecutor said that the defendant had carnal knowledge of the 13-year-old girl without her consent.
“Akande allegedly tricked the victim to his house and defiled her and later gave her N100,” he said.
He said the offence contravened Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
