AN Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Friday remanded in prison custody, a staff member of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Mr Davies Noel, for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter.
Noel, 52, who is of the university’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit, was arrested after the minor confided in her school teacher during a lecture on sex education.
The prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, told the court that the accused committed the offence between 2018 and October 2019 in his residence.

He noted that the accused confessed to the crime and the medical report conducted on the minor showed that her hymen had been broken.
Leramo said the offence contravened Section 214 of the Criminal Code of Ekiti State 2012.
Noel, a resident of Peace Avenue, Ado-Ekiti, pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and incest.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdullamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the accused and adjourned the matter to November 11 for mention.
