An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded an artisan, Abdullahi Ibrahim, for allegedly being a member of a secret cult.
Chief Magistrate Ibijoke Olawoyin ordered the remand of the defendant at Oke-Kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin, and adjourned the case till March 14 for further mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Al-Hassan Jubril, told the court that the defendant was arrested based on prevalent attacks on innocent people within the Saw-mill area of Ilorin during cult-related activities.

Jubril alleged that the defendant is a member of Eiye secret cult confraternity and conspired with three others now at large.
He said that the defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of criminal conspiracy and being a member of a secret cult.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant pending the outcome of the investigation.
He said the alleged offences contravened Section 97 of the Penal Code law and Section 14 of the Secret Cult and Secret Societies (Prohibition) Law, 2016.
