An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday ordered that an applicant, Bamidele Ayo, 42, be remanded in prison custody for allegedly resisting arrest and being in possession of marijuana.
The police charged Ayo with three counts of resisting arrest, possession of dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana and belonging to an unlawful society.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi, who did not admit the defendant to bail, ordered that he be remanded in Ile-Ife prison custody.

Owolawi adjourned the case until Aug 14, for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. James Obaletan told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug 1, around 8.20 a.m. on the Omifunfun Road, Idera village, Ifetedo in Ife South Local Government.
Obaletan said that the police had gone to arrest the defendant who was caught with dried leaes suspected to be marijuana.
He also alleged that the defendant paraded himself as a member of ”Eiye Confraternity”.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 64 and 197 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge
The Defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms.
Adirieje pledged that his client would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.
