AN Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday ordered that two men, Zacheaus Solomon and Ogedengbe Kennedy be remanded in prison for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat, who did not take the pleas of the defendants, ordered that they should be remanded in Kirikiri Prison and the case file sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
She adjourned the case until June 6.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and defilement.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Asp. Benson Emuerhi told the court that the defendants committed the offence sometime in 2014 at Igando, a suburb in Lagos.
Emuerhi alleged that the defendants sexually assaulted the girl.
“The duo unlawfully and indecently assaulted the 9-year-old girl and defiled her.
He said the case was reported to the police at Ikotun Police Division by the girl’s mother.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 135, 137 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 and Sections 10 and 27 of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State.
