Court remands 2 labourers for stealing air conditioners, building materials worth N4.7m

A Kabusa Grade I Area Court on Tuesday ordered that two labourers, who allegedly stole four air conditioners and building materials worth N4.7 million be remanded in a correctional facility, pending bail applications.

The police charged Mohammed Bello and Abubakar Tukur, whose addresses were not given with joint act, housebreaking, mischief and theft.

The Judge, Ibrahim Kagarko, who gave the order, adjourned the case until Oct. 24, for the hearing of the bail applications.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mahmud Lawal, told the court that the complainant, Mr Ahmed Mohammed who resides at NNPC quarters Area 11 Garki, Abuja, reported the case at the Garki Police FCT.

Lawal alleged that the defendants broke into Mohammed’s house and stole four Samsung Air conditions, 20 aluminium sliding doors, five sets of water Closet (WC) 12 aluminium doors, five water heaters, electric wires and a Jacuzzi.

The offence, he added, contravened the provisions of sections 79,246,327 and 291 of the Penal Code Law.

After the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.
